Jeremy Wilson

Jeremy Wilson is Professor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) based at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. He is also the Director of Medicine at Liverpool Hospital. In addition, he is the Clinical Associate Dean for the UNSW South Western Sydney Clinical School responsible for the clinical training of UNSW medical undergraduates and postgraduates in the south west of Sydney. Professor Wilson is a gastroenterologist. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians (London) and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Professor Wilson completed his Doctoral Degree in Medicine at UNSW on the subject of alcoholic pancreatitis. He subsequently undertook postdoctoral research at Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York under the supervision of Dr Charles Lieber. He founded the Pancreatic Research Group at UNSW in 1987 and was its Director when the Group published the first report of the isolation of pancreatic stellate cells. Professor Wilson has a long standing interest in the pathogenesis of alcoholic pancreatitis, the biology of stellate cells and the relationship of stellate cells to pancreatic cancer development.
