Jeremy A. Adler DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA

Jeremy A. Adler, DMSc, PA-C, is a doctorally educated and licensed physician assistant (PA) with over 25 years of experience in pain management in the San Diego region. He brings extensive clinical and leadership expertise to UC San Diego Health's Center for Pain Medicine, where he contributes a unique perspective shaped by his previous role as co-owner and chief operating officer of a private pain management practice.

As a passionate advocate for evidence-based pain care, he believes in improving patients' quality of life through accurate diagnoses, rational use of multiple treatment modalities, and whole-person care. His approach prioritizes both clinical effectiveness and compassion to create successful therapeutic plans for individuals with pain.

In 2018, PA Adler's contributions to patient care and professional advocacy were honored with a California State Legislature Assembly Resolution in his name. Point of Care Network (POCN), the nation's largest network of PAs and nurse practitioners (NPs), awarded him the 2022 America's Top Pain Management PA.

PA Adler is a published author and a national lecturer on pain management topics. Peer-reviewed publications have included coauthoring evidence-based guidelines for opioid use in non-cancer pain, as well as works on urine drug monitoring, intrathecal drug delivery, buprenorphine, and peripheral neuropathy. He also helped develop and present the California Academy of Physician Associates' Controlled Substance Education Course, providing regulatory-compliant training on the safe and appropriate use of controlled substances to over half of all California PAs.

In addition to patient care and education, PA Adler is a dedicated healthcare leader, having founded and served as president of the San Diego Society of Physician Assistants for 10 years, and later president of the California Academy of Physician Associates. He is the inaugural president of the Pain Medicine Academy of Advanced Practice Providers, a longstanding board member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) Foundation, and co-chairs AAPM's Advanced Practice Provider Committee. He is a former board member of the American Academy of Physician Associates.

He holds a Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg and a master's degree—specializing in pain management and physical medicine—from the University of Nebraska, Omaha. PA Adler earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, San Diego, PA degree (summa cum laude) at the State University of New York, Stony Brook.
