Jennifer Salinas is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso. Jennifer Salinas has received Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin, and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. He has been awarded a three-year, $1.2 million grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) to fund an innovative obesity-related cancer prevention program. Titled Pasos Para Prevenir Cancer, the program combines lifestyle education and fun physical activities to help El Pasoans achieve healthy weights and lessen their risk of cancer.
Obesity-related cancers accounted for approximately 40 percent of all cancers diagnosed in the United States in 2014, the most current data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Protection².
