Professor Jennifer Weller is Head of the Centre for Medical and Health Sciences Education, and a specialist anaesthetist at Auckland City Hospital. Prof Weller graduated from the University of Adelaide, undertook her post-graduate training Canberra, Nottingham and Adelaide, and moved to New Zealand in 1994 as a full-time specialist at Wellington Hospital. A Masters of Clinical Education (UNSW) in 2002 reawakened academic aspirations, and an academic appointment in the Wellington School of Medicine, where her experience in simulation-based education began.

She subsequently moved to Auckland and took on the Headship of CMHSE in 2004, and took up a clinical appointment at Auckland City Hospital. Her MD in 2006 brought together her work on simulation to that point. Her research themes are in workplace assessment and decisions on competence, simulation-based education, teamwork and patient safety. Prof Weller leads a national, ACC-funded program establishing simulation-based training in teamwork in New Zealand operating theatres.
