Jennifer M. Boland Froemming, M.D., is originally from rural southwestern Wisconsin, where her family still has a dairy farm. She received her undergraduate degree in biology and microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse before pursuing a medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honours. She then completed her anatomic and clinical pathology residency training at Mayo Clinic, where she was chief resident and recipient of the Dr. Hobart K.B. Allebach Fellowship in Pathology Outstanding Resident Award. Following her residency, Dr. Boland Froemming completed a surgical pathology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, where she served as chief fellow. Dr. Boland Froemming successfully completed the one-year pulmonary pathology fellowship program as a Mayo Clinic Scholar, under the mentorship of Marie-Christine Aubry, M.D., and Joanne (Eunhee) E. Yi, M.D.

She visited Megan Dishop, M.D., at Colorado Children's Hospital for special training in pediatric pulmonary pathology. During her surgical and pulmonary pathology fellowships, she also received speciality interest training in soft tissue and bone pathology under the teaching of Andrew L. Folpe, M.D.; Carrie Y. Inwards, M.D.; Andre M. Oliveira, M.D., Ph.D.; and Antonio G. Nascimento, M.D. He joined the staff at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., in 2012, where she participates in speciality lung and bone and soft tissue case sign-out as well as general surgical pathology sign-out, including the frozen section lab and biopsy service. She holds the rank of assistant professor, and special areas of interest include sarcomas of the lung and thorax as well as pediatric pulmonary pathology and lung adenocarcinoma.
