Jennifer L. Kirby, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and an endocrinologist at UVA Health. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of diabetes, obesity, thyroid disorders, and other endocrine conditions, delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to each patient's needs.
Dr. Kirby earned both her MD and PhD from the University of Virginia and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UVA before pursuing fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Kirby serves as Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Medical Lead for the Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinic, and Director of the Cardiovascular Diabetes Consult Service. A dedicated educator and mentor, she is committed to advancing endocrine care through clinical leadership, medical education, and patient-centered innovation, and has been recognized with multiple Patient Experience Awards for her outstanding care.
