Dr. Spinler is interested in microbial genetics and genomics within the context of the Texas Children’s Microbiome Center. Her efforts are focused on characterizing the molecular mechanisms employed by probiotic bacteria to enhance human health and immunity within the gastrointestinal tract. Functional genomics applications will allow for the rational selection of beneficial microbes with potential applications as novel probiotics for the control of immune responses to pathogens and mucosal inflammation.
