Jenica Cimino serves as the Program Manager of Quality and Safety for the Division of Hospital Medicine and Improvement Specialist for the Medicine Unit-Based Leadership Team within the UCSF Health System. She previously conducted quality improvement and research studies in UCSF's Palliative Care Program. In this capacity, she interviewed hundreds of patients and families, conducted surveys, analyzed data and tracked outcomes for multi-site communication studies. As an IDEO-trained Design Innovation Facilitator, she incorporates design thinking expertise to process improvement, qualitative research, data analysis, and practice coaching. A native of the Bay Area, she returned to San Francisco after receiving her BA in Religious Studies from Brown University.

Jenica manages a portfolio of divisional quality improvement projects with a particular focus on improving communication and the patient experience in the hospital. She provides improvement science coaching and project management across DHM's QI initiatives and partners with faculty on all stages of projects from identifying quality gaps and initiating projects, to testing and implementing changes, to publishing results. In addition, she works with the QI Director and Division leadership to define a clear QI vision and pathway and interfaces with Health System executives, residency leadership, medical students and faculty to align efforts.
