Dr. Jeffrey Adam Colburn, MD, is an American physician specializing in internal medicine and endocrinology, with clinical and academic experience in diabetes, metabolic disorders, and endocrine diseases. He currently practices at the Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he provides care to veterans and focuses on the management of complex endocrine conditions.
Dr. Colburn earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in 2005. He completed further medical training through the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, including residency training in internal medicine in 2012. Over the course of his career, he has developed expertise in diabetes management, thyroid disorders, metabolic diseases, and endocrine-related complications.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Colburn has held several academic appointments. He served as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine from 2014 to 2023, and as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He currently holds an Associate Professor appointment at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, contributing to medical education and mentorship of trainees.
Dr. Colburn has also contributed to medical research and scholarly publications in areas such as diabetes care, autoimmune thyroid disease, and clinical practice guidelines for endocrine disorders. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Annals of Internal Medicine, Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics, and Journal of the Endocrine Society.
