Jeff Round is a Professor of Health Economics in the Department of Pediatrics here at the University of Alberta. He is also the Chief Scientific Officer at the Institute of Health Economics, a non-profit organization based in Edmonton that provides health economics and health technology assessment services. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Health Economics from University College London and earned his MA (Econ) in International Development from the University of Manchester, and his Bachelors (Hons) in Economics from Acadia University in Novas Scotia, Canada. He has previously had academic appointments at the University of Bristol, University College London, and the University of Leeds.
His research encompasses both applied and methodological topics in health economics, and he works across academic, government, and other settings. He currently collaborates with the ministries of health in Alberta, Northwest Territories, and British Columbia, as well as Alberta Health Services, CADTH, and the PMPRB. He is also a research partner for multiple grants funded through CIHR, the UK NIHR, and other Canadian national and provincial funding agencies. These collaborations include colleagues from the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, British Columbia, Toronto, and Ottawa, as well as Simon Fraser University and the University of Bristol. He is currently a member of the CADTH RWE Reporting Guidance Expert Committee and the Alberta Precision Laboratories Formulary Committee.
