Jean Pierre Routy MD, FRCPC

Dr Jean-Pierre Routy has devoted the past two decades to bringing together science and therapeutic innovation to meet the challenges posed by HIV / AIDS and cancer. Dr Routy is a physician in the Hematology and Chronic Viral Disease Department at the Royal Victoria Hospital, and Professor in the Department of Experimental Medicine at McGill University, Montreal. He heads the Louis Lowenstein Chair of Hematology and Oncology at McGill University.

Doctor Routy obtained his diploma in 1986 as a specialist in Hematology-Oncology at the University of Aix-Marseille, France. In 1990, he obtained a postdoctoral fellowship from the Canadian Network for HIV Clinical Trials (CTN) to carry out immunology research at the University of Montreal. He joined McGill University in 1994 and was appointed Director of the Flow Cytometry Laboratory, Royal Victoria Hospital. In 1990 he was appointed chairman of the ethics committee of the Royal Victoria Hospital.
