Jean Patel PhD, D(ABMM)

Jean Patel is the Deputy Director of the Office of Antimicrobial Resistance at CDC. She is a clinical microbiologist with specific expertise in the laboratory detection of antimicrobial resistance. She has experience leading the CDC Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory and prior to CDC worked as the Assistant Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Patel chairs the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute Subcommittee for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing and works with WHO to develop standards for global surveillance of antimicrobial resistance.
