Jean-Louis Frossard studied medicine in Geneva where he obtained his federal diploma in 1990. His training in gastroenterology took place between Geneva, Paris and Boston, where he trained in experimental pancreatology at Harvard Medical School. Back in Geneva, he developed the activity of endosonography and the experimental research laboratory in which he studied the molecular mechanisms of acute pancreatitis in animals. He is appointed associate professor in 2009 and head of the pancreas unit in 2011.

The department of gastroenterology and hepatology is experiencing significant activity, with more than 6,000 endoscopies per year. Jean-Louis Frossard collaborates closely with the transplantation department in the follow-up of liver transplant patients. In 2012.
