Prof. dr. Jean De Schepper studied Medicine at the Free University of Brussels (VUB). He specialized as a pediatrician at UZ Brussel and as a pediatric endocrinologist at Sint Pieterziekenhuis and the Academisch Ziekenhuis Brussel in Brussels. Since 1991 he works as a pediatric endocrinologist at UZ Brussel and since 2005 he is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the VUB. In 2007 he also joined the Department of Pediatric Endocrinology at UZ Gent on a part-time basis and is also a visiting professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Ghent University. His scientific interest is mainly in the outcome of growth hormone treatment in children with a growth disorder, the effects of chronic disorders on bone mineralization, the long-term outcomes of children born after the ICSI technique, the gonadal and metabolic function of adolescents with Klinefelter syndrome, and the quality of life of children with a hormonal disorder or growth disorder. Professor De Schepper has more than 100 publications in international journals as a first author or co-author and more than 7 book contributions. In addition, he is a promoter or co-promoter of completed or ongoing medical doctorates.
