Avarre currently lead the team called DIVA (Aquatic and Fisheries DIVersity). His research activities focus on two complementary aspects of aquaculture: adaptive responses of farmed fish to changing environments and the detection and characterization of some of their pathogens. He worked for a biotechnology company where he participated in the design and validation of innovative solutions for genomic and diagnostic applications. Attracted by new technologies, he dedicate part of his research activities to the development of methods to improve the detection, identification and characterization of microorganisms.
