Jean Baum AB, PhD

Jean Baum, Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, pursues a research program in molecular biophysics placed at the nexus of science and human health, breaking new ground on illnesses such as Parkinson’s disease. Since 2013, she has served as Vice-Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, which includes overseeing the graduate program, and is currently the treasurer for the Protein Society.

As Vice Dean for Research and Graduate Education, she oversees the school’s research and graduate programs, including all centers, institutes, and partnerships. She also serves as a liaison to both internal and external partners, working across public, private, and non-profit sectors to build support for research and graduate education excellence at the School of Arts and Sciences.
