Jay Albert Johannigman MD FACS

Dr Johannigman serves as the Director of the Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at University Hospital. Office Practice locations accepting new referrals include the University Hospital Medical Arts Building, the Westchester North Medical Office Building and the Christ Hospital Medical Outpatient Building. Dr. Johannigman is also crendentialed as staff at the Good Samaritan and Bethesda North Hospitals. New referrals are accepted in the areas of trauma, surgical critical care and the broad practice of elective general surgery. Dr.Johannigman maintains an active presence in the American College of Surgeons and participates actively on the Committee on Trauma as well as the Advocacy committee. Dr. Johannigman remains a member of the United States Air Force Reserves and has actively deployed to Iraq as hospital deputy commander and trauma director as well as Critical Care Transport team member. He has also deployed to Afghanistan in the role of Deputy Director of Clinical Services and as senior staff surgeon at the Craig Joint theater hospital. One of Dr. Johannigman's greatest privileges and pleasure is to be in his home town serving friends, neighbors and members of the police and fire-fighting communities.
