Javier Martinez Reina was born in the Sevillian town of Villaverde del Río and at the age of 12 he moved to Seville to continue studying. He studied Industrial Engineering at the University of Seville and received the Royal Maestranza de Caballería Award for the best academic record in his class. A pioneer in Biomechanics research at the University of Seville, he opened the research group within the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing with his doctoral thesis. Professor of Mechanical Engineering, he is the brother of Silencio, a federated swimmer of the Sevilla Swimming Club, old Trastamara, and a workaholic.
