Dr. Falvey is a board-certified geriatric physical therapist with over 10 years of combined clinical and research experience working with older adults across the continuum of care. Dr. Falvey received a dual bachelors degree in English Literature and Kinesiology and his DPT degree from Husson University in his home state of Maine, a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Epidemiology of Aging at the Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Falvey’s research has evaluated the utilization and outcomes of home and community-based rehabilitation across a wide variety of older adult populations with new disabilities, including orthopedic conditions, critical illness, and dementia. He has also published multiple original reports on rehabilitation utilization and outcomes within socioeconomically disadvantaged older adult populations in the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. More recently, he has started a line of research evaluating the impact of neighborhood factors (socioeconomic disadvantage and rural status) on outcomes for older adults using post-acute and long-term care after disabling hospitalizations, including those for critical illness, myocardial infarction, and fall-related trauma. Dr. Falvey also is an active member of the APTA and serves on multiple committees evaluating how to demonstrate the value of post-acute rehabilitation care on patient outcomes following acute hospitalization.
