Dr. Morrow is Medical Director of the Inpatient Palliative Care Consultation Service (LIFE Care) at University Health System, as well as Assistant Professor of Medicine at UTHCSA and the Howard and Betty Halff Professor of Ethics & Medical Humanities. He received his undergraduate degrees with honors from Trinity University in San Antonio, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he also received his PhD in Medical Humanities. Dr. Morrow completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He then joined the faculty at Duke University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and as an academic hospitalist at Durham Regional Hospital and Duke University Medical Center. He also served as an ethics consultant, Ethics Committee Co-Chair, and Medical Director for Palliative Care at Durham Regional Hospital before moving to San Antonio in the summer of 2011. Dr. Morrow is Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He serves on the Bioethics Committee at University Health System and is currently working to develop educational and quality improvement programs in ethics and palliative care.
