Dr. Jason Maikos is the Director of the VISN 2 Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory at the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Health Care System. He received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers, the State University where he gained expertise in biomechanics and computational modeling. Hi research at the VA allows him to explore the mechanics of human motion, specifically those living with limb loss, to understand how the biomechanics of this disability affects patients, mobility, pain, overall health, and quality of life. His current research portfolio includes evaluating the efficacy of a advanced prosthetic devices, socket fit, novel treatment plans on gait biomechanics, performance, and pain. As a result of his well-rounded skill set, knowledge base, and gait analysis experience, Dr. Maikos bring an integrative, multi-disciplinary approach to solve clinically relevant challenges in the field of prosthetics.
