Dr. Chui graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, after which he completed his residency training with the Colleges of Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand. Following his residency, Dr. Chui was interested in being proficient in both neuro and cardiac anesthesia. This led him to pursue a Neuroanesthesia fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital, University of Toronto, and an additional fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia and Critical Care at Toronto General Hospital, University of Toronto. Dr. Chui also completed a postgraduate diploma in Biostatistics and Epidemiology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Trial with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the UK.
Dr. Chui has worked in Hong Kong where he was the Director of the Anesthesia residency program of both the Australian and New Zealand College of Anesthetists and The Hong Kong College of Anesthesiologists, supervising the residency training. In his current role, Jason is a consultant anesthesiologist at London Health Science Centre and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine, Western University.
His clinical practice focuses on Neuroanesthesia, Cardiac Anesthesia, and perioperative ultrasound. Dr. Chui is an active researcher and clinician teacher. He has received local and national research grants, including Lawson Research Institute, AMOSO, and the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation. His current research focuses are the application of automated interventional neurophysiology to prevent neurological injury, intraoperative neurological monitoring, and perioperative ultrasound. He is also very involved in the Perioperative Ultrasound education program at Western University, in which he trains and mentors residents and fellows for point-of-care ultrasound.
Dr. Chui serves as a Secretary/treasurer of the NeuroAnesthesia Section in the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society, a member of the Clinical Affair Committee in the Society of Neuroscience in Anesthesia and Critical Care (SNACC), and a journal reviewer of major peer-review journals in Anesthesia. At Western University, he is the project lead of implementing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring at the London Health Science Centre and the lead of Neuroanesthesia Research.
