Jared Naphtali Schwartz MD, PhD

Dr. Jared N. Schwartz is a Pathologist, board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty boards in Medical Microbiology and Cytopathology. He is the Chief Medical Officer of Aperio and a consulting Professor in Pathology at Stanford University. He served from 1981 through 2008 as Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Presbyterian Healthcare. He is Immediate Past-President of the College of American Pathologists.

He is a graduate of Duke University Medical School. He obtained an M.D. (1973) and Ph.D. (1975) and completed his residency and fellowship training serving as Chief Resident in 1977. He has also held numerous positions in state and national medical associations including Chairman of the North Carolina Medical Society’s STD and AIDS Committee, Represented NC State Med Society on NC Governors Task Force on AIDS, and served on Board of Governors of the College of American Pathologists. He was appointed to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee by The Secretary of HHS and served two terms ending in 2009. He was a co-chair and author of the ASCO/CAP Guidelines on Her2 published in Jan 2007 Journal of Clinical Oncology and an author of the new ASCO/CAP ER/PR Guideline published in April 2010 in JCO.
