Dr. Jaouad Mahjour is currently the Director of the Division of Communicable Diseases Control at World Heath Organization, Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean. He has been reassigned as a Director or communicable Disease Prevention and Control on March 2007 up to the present. Also, Dr. Mahjour has been appointed as WHO Representative in Lebanon, since January 2005.

Prior to joining WHO, Dr. Mahjour was the Director of Epidemiology and Diseases Control Department of the Ministry of Health of Morocco since 1994. He was in-charge of designing and implementing disease control programs. He has been also the Head of the Division of Communicable Diseases in the Directorate of Epidemiology and Health Programs (1992-1994).

From 1988-1992, he was the Chief of Parasitic Diseases Control Service at the same Directorate of Epidemiology and Health Programs and from 1983-1988, he was the Head Doctor of the Health Center at the Medical Province of Beni Mellal.

Dr Mahjour has over sixteen years of experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of several disease control programs (STI-AIDS, TB, Schistosomiasis, Malaria, Leishmaniasis, Diabetes, High Blood Pressures, and Cancers). He has planned and supervised many evaluations of disease control programs.
