Jane is currently Clinical Consultant to Wessex Academic Health Science Network providing strategic leadership and direction for the Patient Safety Collaborative and Non-Executive Director with Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She supports Bournemouth University as a visiting faculty and NHS Improvement as an independent investigator/advisor in the field of Never Event investigation/safety improvement. Key to Jane's portfolio is her work with the Clinical Human Factors Group (www.chfg.org) and her delivery of education and training in Human Factors. In 2015 Jane was recognised by the Health Service Journal, in association with Barclays and the NHS Leadership Academy, as one of the most inspirational women leaders in healthcare. Her roles, within recent years, have included President of the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP UK), President of the International Federation of Perioperative Nursing, Nurse Advisor WHO 2nd Global Challenge Safe Surgery Saves Lives (Geneva), Associate Dean (Nursing and Allied Health Professions) Bournemouth University, Nurse Advisor to the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) and Co-Chair Learning to be Safer Expert Group - Health Education England. Jane has also played a key leadership role in the national patient safety campaigns Patient Safety First and Sign up to Safety and was Co-Chair of the reference group that informed and delivered the National Quality Board Concordat for Human Factors in Healthcare.
