Jane Figueiredo MSc, PhD

Jane C. Figueiredo is the Program Leader for the Cancer Prevention & Control Program, Director of Community and Population Health Research, and Professor of Medicine and Computational Biomedicine at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, with an adjunct appointment in the Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Figueiredo earned a B.A.Sc. in biomedical electrical engineering and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in epidemiology from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto; she then completed her post-doctoral fellowship in genetic epidemiology at the University of Southern California.

Her current research program applies a multi-disciplinary framework to understand the intersections among the biological, environmental, and behavioral/lifestyle aspects of cancer control, survivorship, and disparities, primarily in colorectal cancer. She has spent the last decade building new population-based and clinic-based studies, as well as collaborating on consortia efforts for large-scale analyses. With over 250 publications, these efforts are contributing to the broader scientific mission to understand the pathogenesis of cancer and the development of tailored strategies to improve cancer prevention, response to treatment, and outcomes.
