Prof. Dr. medical Jan Jakob Menne will take over the position on April 6, 2020. Menne succeeds Prof. Reinhard Brunkhorst, who is retiring. Menne is a nationally and partly worldwide sought-after expert. Raised in West Berlin, he studied human medicine at the Freie Universität Berlin and at Tufts University in Boston USA. After completing his training, he spent a year abroad in Leeds. The internist and nephrologist then spent his time as an assistant doctor in Hanover at the Medical University. During this time he also noticed the special expertise of the clinic for nephrology, angiology, and rheumatology at the KRH Klinikum Siloah. The 52-year-old sees himself as a strong team player. He already got to know his tendency to interpret hierarchies flatly during his time in the USA and England. "The developments in medicine - we are currently experiencing this with the spread of Covid-19 - are so fast that we have to think of our expertise as networked. Nobody knows everything in their field anymore. That's why I really appreciate being able to lead a team in which so many qualified specialists work.” He is convinced that this applies to all professions. Listening well and allowing and absorbing ideas from others is one of his strengths, stresses Menne.

At a young age, he danced for the German championship in a jazz dance formation. Today, on the other hand, he is happy if he can go out on the floor from time to time. As a philistine, the nephrologist tries to relax while feeding the goldfish in the allotment garden. His daily adventure consists of living with four women, his wife, and three daughters.
