Jan Kitajewski is the Sweeney Professor of Basic Sciences and Head of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine. He received his B.A. in Biochemistry from UC Berkeley, Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and postdoctoral training with Harold Varmus at UCSF. He served for over two decades as faculty of the Pathology and Obstetrics/Gynecology Departments at Columbia University Medical Center, and was selected as Director of the Division of Reproductive Sciences and the Charles and Marie Robertson Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology. In 2016, he became Head of the Physiology Department at UIC. He is also currently co-Editor-in-Chief of Vascular Cell and president-elect of the North American Vascular Biology Organization (NAVBO).
