Jan Hedner MD is a Professor of Respiratory medicine at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. He was trained in Clinical Pharmacology and founded the clinical discipline of sleep medicine in Sweden in the 1980-ies. He has headed the Swedish Sleep Society and is the initiator of large scale clinical registry data bases like the ESADA and the SESAR, together encompassing more than 45,000 patients. He has supervised more than 15 PhD students and published close to 250 papers in peer-reviewed literature. H-index 64. Major research areas include autonomic mechanisms, cardiovascular medicine and various aspects of clinical sleep medicine.
