At Tilburg University he studied neuro- and rehabilitation psychology and at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) he studied medicine. He received his PhD from the Department of Clinical Epidemiology.

He followed his training in surgery at the Alrijne Hospital in Leiderdorp, after which he specialized in plastic surgery at the Erasmus MC and hand surgery at the Jeroen Bosch Hospital, and the National Hand and wrist fellowship. He also did a fellowship in elbow surgery with Prof. Van Riet at the AZ Monica in Antwerp.

He treats both congenital and acquired injuries of the hand, wrist, and elbow. Acquired injuries include bone fractures, ligament injuries, incorrectly fused bone fractures, lacerations of tendons, nerves, and blood vessels, or stiffness after trauma to a finger, wrist, or elbow. He also specialized in laparoscopic surgery of the wrist and elbow, joint wear (arthrosis), Dupuytren's disease, and pinched nerves.
