Dr Jan Johansson is head of oesophageal and gastric surgery at Lund University Hospital, Sweden. He presented his thesis 2001 on oesophagectomy with gastric tube reconstruction, and has spent a year as a research fellow at USC, Los Angeles. Since the start 2005 he has been the holder of the Swedish national quality register for oesophageal and gastric cancer.
