Jamile M. Shammo, MD, is a professor of Medicine and a clinical researcher with interests in bone marrow failure states, including aplastic anemia, PNH, and myelodysplastic neoplasms, as well as the myeloproliferative neoplasms. She completed training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Northwestern University, followed by a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Chicago.

Her training shaped her interest in translational research and fostered a desire to turn clinical and pathological observations into practical and applicable therapies for her patient population. She has been in academic hematology practice since 2000, during which time she participated in multiple clinical trials that have led to the approval of several therapies in MDS, MPN, CML, and PNH. She has written and co-authored multiple manuscripts outlining the results of research projects and clinical trials.
