Dr. Bashir is a native of Rockville, MD and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. After Medical school he completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at The University of Miami (UM) Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Fl. During residency Dr. Bashir received comprehensive training including extensive exposure to musculoskeletal medicine, rehabilitation, spine and sports medicine along with some regenerative medicine. He also helped organize and subsequently completed a three year course in diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Dr. Bashir worked closely with the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute at UM, publishing a literature review on stem cell use in musculoskeletal diseases as well as helping to develop a pilot study investigating expanded stem cell use in the treatment of facet joint arthropathy.
Desiring to pursue further training in regenerative medicine and interventional orthopedics, Dr. Bashir was excited to be selected for our fellowship program, allowing him to further his skills in fluoroscopic guided procedures, diagnostic Ultrasound and Ultrasound guided injections.
In addition to his traditional Medical training he has been practicing Yoga and Chi Kung (Chinese meditation) for over ten years, and taught community based free classes while a Resident. Dr. Bashir believes strongly in educating and empowering his patients to help them overcome their physical problems and achieve optimal health. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors, music and spending time with friends and family.
