Mr Buchanan is an orthopaedic surgeon with a wide range of experience.He has a particular interest in all arthroscopic procedures ("keyhole" surgery) and surgery of the shoulder and elbow.
Mr Buchanan qualified from St Mary's Hospital, London in 1986 and trained in orthopaedics through the Westminster and St Mary's Hospital programmes. After passing the Orthopaedic Fellowship exam in 1995, he spent a year in Perth, Australia, in a specialist sports medicine centre, where he gained extensive experience in arthroscopy and surgery of the shoulder and elbow. His interests were further developed at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, where he spent a year in 1997. He was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Conquest Hospital
