James William Tom DDS, MS

James Tom is currently working as a Chair, Department of Anesthesiology & Emergency Medicine at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. He is Involved in clinical anesthesiology and sedation in dental settings for over 20 years and authored numerous articles and chapters pertaining to topics in dental anesthesiology, office-based anesthesiology, and patient safety. Experienced in writing and promoting state and national guidelines on anesthesia and sedation practices. Utilized as a subject matter expert for matters involving patient safety and standard of care in dental anesthesiology. Academic appointment at one university setting for over 20 years. Led professional society in establishing a recognized dental specialty in anesthesiology, and crafted educational standards for the specialty of dental anesthesiology.
