Dr. Bailey is a native Mississippian who attended Millsaps College as an undergraduate and University of MS Medical Center for his PhD in Anatomy. He attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona California and afterwards relocated to Birmingham Alabama for internship and residency. He was in private practice for 13 years and is now Professor of Neurology and Anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He is board certified in both Neurology and Pain.
Dr. Bailey is a past president of the Alabama Osteopathic Medical Association and currently serves on the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Education. He is a member of the NBOME faculty. He is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Neurologists and Psychiatrists and serves on its board of Governors. Dr. Bailey participated in the creation of the Osteopathic Pain Medicine Boards and serves as the AOA advisor to the AMA CPT committee. He is the AOA representative to the Federation of State Medical Boards Opioid Task Force and serves on the coding subcommittee of the American Academy of Neurology.
