Dr. Adams primary interests are neonatal cardiopulmonary care and NICU process management. He is the former Medical Director of the Newborn Center, Neonatal Transport Team and TCH NNP Program. He continues to serve on select TCH and Neonatology Service committees.
He is involved in a long-term project, Improving Medication Safety by Learning from Experience in conjunction with co-Investigators at the VA Medical Center Houston, UT-Houston and University of Tennessee. This project involves interviewing health care professionals from three urban hospitals to determine how health professionals learn from safety-related medication events. Data from this study are being analyzed to evaluate organizational factors that determine event definitions, data collection, data analysis, and change decisions/ implementation.
