Dr James Wee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2005, having been placed on the Dean's List. He completed his postgraduate specialist training in orthopaedic surgery and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2015. He is a dual fellowship-trained surgeon in the sub-specialities of Hip & Knee Adult Reconstruction and Foot & Ankle Surgery.
Dr Wee was awarded a scholarship to complete his fellowship in Hip & Knee Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals in the UK, where he acquired expertise in complex revision total hip replacement and total knee replacement surgery. He underwent intensive training in partial knee replacement with the renowned inventor-surgeons of the Oxford Partial Knee system, which has the benefits of requiring a smaller skin incision and better recovery for patients after surgery.
He also completed a fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London, which is the UK's leading specialist orthopaedic hospital that manages complex cases referred from across the nation. His clinical interests in Foot & Ankle Surgery include deformity correction, sports injuries, and degenerative conditions.
Aside from his clinical work, Dr Wee is also active in medical education. He has been appointed as a Clinical Lecturer with the National University of Singapore, and is a Senior Lecturer with the Nanyang Technological University. He is also a Faculty Member of the NHG-AHPL Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programme. Furthermore, he has presented at numerous conferences, published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has been invited to be a journal reviewer.
