James H. Finigan, MD, received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his residency and served as a Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, University Hospitals of Cleveland, and his Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Pulmonary Medicine.

Dr. Finigan currently serves as Director of The Respiratory Centers of Excellence and as Medical Director of the Lung Cancer Screening Program. He is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and in the Division of Oncology, Cancer Center, in the Department of Medicine at National Jewish Health, in Denver, Colorado. His areas of specialty include Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the early detection of lung cancer, and acute lung injury. His research focuses on how cells of the lung adhere and how cell-cell junctions are altered during lung injury and repair.
