James Emery Szalados MD, JD, MBA, MHA, FACHE, FCCP, FCCM, FCLM, FNCS

Dr. James Emery Szalados has over 25 years of clinical experience in the fields of surgery, anesthesiology, critical care (CCM), neurocritical care, and hospital medicine in academia and private practice. He is Board-Certified in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care. He is a member of the AMA, SCCM, the ACCP, and the Neurocritical Care Society; he is a Fellow of both SCCM and ACCP. He engages in clinical research, authored textbooks and chapters, peer-reviewed publications, and lectures at regional, national, and international symposia. One of Dr. Szalados' CCM texts is translated into Chinese.

Dr. Szalados is admitted to the NY Bar and concentrates on matters of healthcare law. He is in private legal practice and collaborates with Kern Augustine, Conroy, and Schoppman to represent physicians and practices in matters of business law, contract law, regulatory compliance, licensure; peer review and credentialing; and managed care and reimbursement. He lectures at CLE events and is a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.

Dr. Szalados has experience in healthcare administration and management. He consults with physicians and groups across the US on issues of strategic and financial positioning in an evolving and competitive healthcare environment with special expertise in the development of hospital-based service lines and clinical integration; especially in the formation and restructuring of anesthesiology and CCM groups, hospitalists, and telemedicine programs. He was previously Board-Certified in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review (CHCQM).

Dr. Szalados was Executive Vice-Chair of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Operating Rooms at the University of Rochester; VPMA / CMO of Lakeside Health System; Director of Clinical Services, and Medical Director of Respiratory Care at Unity Health System. He is the Past President of the Monroe County Medical Society.
