James Daniel Gifford MD, FACP

James Daniel Gifford, MD, is currently on the Board of Directors for the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) where he serves on the Executive, Governance (chair), Investment, and Compensation committees. He has also served recently on the Composite Action Index and Opioid Prescribing workgroups for the FSMB. He has been a member of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners since 2006 where he is a member of the Credentials Committee, and the Physicians Assistant Committee (chair). Dr. Gifford is a practicing physician with Nephrology of North Alabama, PC and he is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Gifford holds an active medical license in Alabama. Dr. Gifford is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, the American College of Physicians and the State Medical Association, Alabama where he serves on the Board of Censors. Dr. Gifford has received awards from the National Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Association and has published numerous research articles. Dr. Gifford is also a board member of the Alabama Department of Public Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
