James C. Watson MD

Dr. James C. Watson is a board-certified neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and pain medicine specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is recognized for his expertise in neuromuscular disorders, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography (EMG), neuropathic pain, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis, and spine-related neurological conditions.

Dr. Watson earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his neurology residency, chief residency, fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology, and advanced training in pain medicine at Mayo Clinic. He holds board certifications in Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology, and Pain Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Watson has combined clinical excellence with leadership in academic medicine. He has held numerous leadership roles at Mayo Clinic, including Vice Chair of the Department of Neurology, Chair of Mayo Clinic Enterprise Neurology Clinical Practice, and Chair of Pain Medicine Clinical Practice Executive Committee. He has also served in leadership positions within national organizations such as the American Academy of Pain Medicine.
