James C. Melville, DDS, FACS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral, Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2005 and subsequently completed a General Practice Residency at the University of California San Francisco in 2006. He joined the faculty as an assistant professor until 2007.

He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 2012, followed by a fellowship in oral, head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Melville is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.He is the chief editor of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery/ Dentistry Springer Education video channels.
