Dr. Bittner is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Medical College of Virginia. He serves as the Director of the VCU Minimally Invasive Surgery Center and the Program Director of the VCU Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship, which trains one surgeon annually in the practice of complex minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. His practice incorporates robotic and minimally invasive foregut surgery (primary and recurrent paraesophageal hernia, primary and recurrent hiatus hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal dysmotility disorders, achalasia), advanced minimally invasive surgery (primary and recurrent complex hernia, conditions of the spleen), and bariatric surgery.
