Jamal Aldeen Alkoteesh MD, MSc, FRCR, CCST, EBIR, EDSI, EDNI, FPAIRS

Dr. Jamal Alkoteesh undertook his higher specialist training in Radiology at the University Hospital of Wales in the UK in 1997. He has worked in many well recognized International hospitals: Prince Philip Hospital in Wales; Cork University Hospital in Ireland and King Fahad National Guard Hospital (KAMC) in Riyadh; KSA, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City SKMC-Cleveland in the UAE; Alain Hospital and Tawam/John Hopkins Hospital.

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR)UK since 1999, and a member of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE). He is the holder of the European Board in Interventional Radiology EBIR.

He has special interests in vascular intervention', Carotid and Aortic stenting; hepatobiliary; TIPS, Arterial and venous embolization, TACE, Tumour Radiofrequency ablation; urological Interventional procedures; uterine fibroid embolization; Breast interventions; scrotal varicoceles embolization, Prostate artery embolization; acute stroke interventions and diabetic foot salvage interventional procedures.

Dr Alkoteesh has performed more the 20000 interventional radiology procedures in the UAE during the last 10 years including a TIPS procedure in 4y old child; an IVC Filter in 7y old; 25 Acute stroke interventions and 400 UFE procedures; also he has more than 40 publications under his belt. He has been invited as an expert IR speaker in more than 50 national and international conferences.

Dr. Alkoteesh served as the chief of Interventional Radiology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City between 2007-2010 where he also established and managed the Radiology Residency Program. He set up the residency program in 2009 and took the challenge to train the UAE junior doctors to become the Radiologists of the future.

He has been the chief of Interventional Radiology at Alain Hospital since 2010 when he came to establish the interventional Radiology Department and has been the Chairman of Radiology since 2012. Dr. Alkoteesh was appointed in 2013-2014 by SEHA as the Regional Chairman of the Clinical Imaging department of Both Tawam and Alain Hospitals to lead the Radiology integration in the Eastern region of Abu Dhabi Emirates.

He has been an editorial board member and reviewer of the Cardio-Vascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR)  Journal (CIRSE's official journal) since 2013 and a Member of the editorial advisory board for AuntMinnie Middle East since 2014. He is a member of the SEHA Radiology Council and a member of the organizing committee for the Arab Health Total Radiology conference. He has been the Chairman of the SIRC SEHA International Radiology Conference since 2012.
