Jagdish completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Trichur, Kerala and joined JIPMER as a Junior Resident (post graduate) in 1994. After his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery, he went on to complete his Senior Residency in JIPMER in 2000. He also acquired his DNB (Ortho) during his junior residency. After a short stint in Kerala where he worked as faculty in Government Medical College Calicut and Trichur, he rejoined JIPMER as Assistant Professor after selection by the UPSC in the year 2003.
He have been awarded membership to the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS) and the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS). He have also completed fellowships by the Indo-British Association (Arthroplasty) and the World Orthopaedic Concern (WOC).
In addition to his duties as an orthopaedic surgeon, he have been Officer-in-charge of the department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) ever since he joined JIPMER till 2010.
He had been entrusted the responsibilities of the administration of the JIPMER Trauma Center from 2010-2012. He have been managing independent orthopaedic unit from October 2007 and have been heading the departments of Orthopaedics as well as PMR from July 2013.
He have also been part of the leadership in JIPMER Scientific Society, various departmental and institutional committees, JIPMER Staff Co-operative Society, Pondicherry Orthopaedic Association. He also serve the Medical Council of India and Pondicherry University as Inspectors and curriculum advisor.
He have also played a small role in bringing the ATLS to JIPMER and am a certified ALTS instructor. His area of clinical expertise is Hip surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedics, Joint replacement, as well as difficult limb reconstructions. His basic research primarily focuses on musculoskeletal infection and bone substitutes.
