Mr. Chana has had a distinguished career graduating in Medicine with a distinction in Surgery from London University in 1991. He undertook his training at various centers in London and has been awarded the FRCS and FRCS(Plast) by the Royal College of Surgeons. During his training, he was awarded a scholarship by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS) to undertake a year-long sabbatical to train in complex forms of facial surgery at a specialist center in Taiwan which leads the world in techniques of complex facial surgery and microsurgical reconstruction. As a result of this specialized training, a large part of his practice is devoted to reconstructive microsurgery relating to head and neck as well as breast reconstruction.

At the same time, his specialist interest in head and neck reconstructive surgery has translated to a thriving practice in rhinoplasty and facial rejuvenation surgery including facelifts, eyelid surgery, and laser facial resurfacing. He also offers the full scope of aesthetic procedures including cosmetic breast surgery and body contouring.

Mr. Chana was first appointed as a Consultant at Mt Vernon Hospital. After the second world war, this was one of the first Plastic surgery units in the country from which the specialty of Plastic Surgery developed. This Department steadily grew to be the leading Plastic Surgery Unit in the UK with an international reputation. Surgeons from all over the country and indeed the world came to Mt Vernon for training as Plastic Surgeons and this was where Mr. Chana undertook much of his training and was ultimately appointed a Consultant. In 2006 the plastic surgery unit moved to the Royal Free Hospital in London. The Mount Vernon Plastic Surgeons now continue their work, teaching, and research from the Royal Free Hospital which is where Mr. Chana is now based.

He has received a number of awards for his work in Plastic and Aesthetic surgery including the Lester Heinz Prize awarded by the British Association of Plastic Surgeons (BAPRAS), The Frank Cort Prize in Plastic Surgery, the Sylvia Lawlor Prize awarded by the Royal Society of Medicine and the prestigious Hackett Memorial Prize awarded by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).

Mr. Chana has published internationally in the field of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery with over 40 papers and book chapters published in the top journals both in the UK and USA. He has also lectured widely at National and International Conferences. He has been awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) by London University and he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Plastic Surgery at University College, London.
