Prof. Jacob Moran-Gilad earned his medical degree and
Master's degree in public health at the Faculty of
Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev,
Israel to which he is currently affiliated as Associate
Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Staff Member at
the Department of Health Systems Management. As a
Medical Doctor he specialised as both a consultant
clinical microbiologist and a consultant in public health
medicine, being the only physician in Israel to pursue
such training and went through a unique Fellowship in
Public Health Microbiology Strategy at the Directorate
of the Centre for Infections, UK Health Protection Agency (now Public Health England), where he was involved in key UK national and international projects such as preparedness to the 2012 Olympic Games, harmonisation of surveillance systems and microbiology strategy for the EU.
