Jacob L. Freeman, MD, is a board-certified Neurosurgeon caring for patients in Ocala, Florida, and the surrounding area. Dr. Freeman received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pepperdine University in 2002 and a Master of Science in Physiology and Biophysics from Georgetown in 2005. Dr. Freeman then went on to earn his medical degree from Georgetown in 2009. He completed his Residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Freeman specializes in brain and spinal surgery and has completed two skull base surgery fellowships (Skull Base Surgery from the University of Colorado and Skull Base Tumor Surgery from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center) with a concentration on endoscopic surgical procedures, including endoscopic endonasal surgery, in which a tiny camera mounted on an endoscope can be inserted through a nasal passage to explore areas at the base of the skull, preventing or minimizing the need for incisions in the face or head. The endoscope can also be used to explore the ventricular system (the fluid-filled spaces located deep within the brain) to biopsy tumors in this region and restore the normal flow of cerebrospinal fluid in patients with a condition called hydrocephalus.

Dr. Freeman is a Member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Florida Neurological Society, and the Marion County Medical Society. He is the author of multiple publications regarding endoscopic skull bases and other neurological surgeries and procedures.
