Dr. Michael has been a Registered Nurse since 1988 and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner since 1993. She is the Associate Chair of Advanced Practice Nursing in the Graduate Department and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing.

Dr. Michael’s teaching contributions to the Department of Graduate Nursing are strong and demonstrate the knowledge and skills of an expert teacher. Jackie has served as Lead Teacher in the MSN Advanced Health Assessment course since AY 2010 -11. In that course, she has made continuous improvements in course delivery, led curriculum revisions of the course (didactic and laboratory components), and mentored new and ongoing faculty in the course. She is currently teaching in the DNP program.

Dr. Michael provides strong service to the profession and the College. She has a long history of service and leadership positions with Texas Nurses Association District 4, the National Association of Indian Nurses in America, and Sigma Theta Tau International. In the College of Nursing, she is an active member of the Graduate Education Program and Graduate Studies Committees and served on the CONHI Dean Search Committee in2014-15. She is presently serving as lead Clinical Placement Faculty for the UTA CONHI Graduate Program.

Dr. Michael continues to practice as a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Colposcopist and has owned her own practice. She also established a practice as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Dr. Michael has many presentations, papers, and posters to her credit. She was the University of Texas at Arlington School of Nursing’s nominee for the Provost Award in 2006, 2007, and 2011. She continues to visit India to teach and research topics in Nursing leadership, Succession planning, Strategic planning, Non-Governmental Agency operations, Nursing Education, Curriculum Design, and Health assessment.
